Quick & Easy Table Makeover

I've had this little side table for almost 10 years now.  I remember being in high school, hopping into my car, driving over to Ames-remember that store???-  and buying it for my bedroom.  The light color wood has never been my favorite, and apparently my kids feel the same way, because they felt the need to color it with crayons.  Either way, this table needed a little something.

First, I sanded it and then painted it with a couple of coats of black paint.

Then I took this pretty 'bamboo' placemat I picked up from Yankee Dollar for, you guessed it, one dollar...

I love the print on this!
and cut it to fit the top of my table.  I hot glued it on, and used some of the excess placemat to cover the sides as well.

I didn't like the gaps that were left on the edges and corners, but luckily I still had some of the placemat left over, so I cut small strips and hot glued them in place.

That was it!  Very easy!
