Two months?!?! That's how long I've been neglecting my blog? I'm sorry. I don't really have a good reason as to why I've been away... Kids, school, crafter's block... I have been sewing up some purses, though; have an Etsy shop in the works! I suppose that's been keeping me pretty busy.
One thing I'm not happy about- I missed out on doing Halloween crafts. :( And since I can't think of anything creative for Thanksgiving, I'll just dive headfirst into Christmas!!! Yay!


So for my first craft in two months, I thought I would dress up the plain old grapevine wreath hanging from my front door. I've been wanting to do a craft with wire coat hangers for a while now- and this was the perfect opportunity!  I grabbed a few coat hangers, a diagonal cutter (something strong enough to easily cut through the wire), and a Leatherman (pliers will work here, too).


I used the diagonal cutters to cut the tops off the hangers, and bent the wire into letters using my hands.  The pliers can help with the shaping.  Then I used the pliers to loop the ends of the wire.  The letter 'Y' took two pieces of wire to make.

Once all of the letters were complete, I cut a strip of white fabric (from an old curtain, a bed sheet would work well here, too) and using my trusty hot glue gun, folded one end of the strip over a wire loop and glued in place.  I also forgot how hot that glue really is.  Ouch! :)  Once the glue cooled I started wrapping the wire with the fabric, twisting as I went.  When I reached the end of the wire, I folded and glued the fabric just like at the beginning.


 For the letter 'Y', I wrapped the top in fabric first, and the bottom last.

 I attached the letters to the wreath with some thin craft wire,

 attached some little rolled fabric flowers with buttons with hot glue, and it was done!
