A Dance Marathon & A Bunch of Great Kids

Over the summer my nephew Nick was diagnosed with cancer. He's been down a long, winding road battling his cancer, but the light at the end of the tunnel is near- he's only got one more round of chemotherapy left! Woohoo!

This video was on our local news. It's so refreshing to see a whole community of kids pull together to help others, and be excited about it. These kids are alright!

Cozy Candle Holders... from Socks!

This is a VERY easy & quick project to whip up.  It took me about five minutes.  Seriously.  And the best part?  Pretty much everything came from the dollar store.  Awesome!

Here's what you need:

  • a pair of socks with a pretty pattern (dollar store)
  • a couple of drinking glasses (dollar store)
  • a piece of felt (can you get that at the dollar store?  I had mine on hand...)
  • hot glue gun & glue sticks

Cut the top of the sock off so that it is slightly longer than the height of the glass.

Stretch the top part of the sock over the glass and glue at the top with hot glue.

Stretch the sock over the bottom of the glass and glue in place.

Cut a circle of coordinating felt (or mismatched, if that's your thing) slightly smaller than the bottom of the glass, and hot glue in place.

Repeat with the other sock and the other glass, add a couple of votives, and you've got a pair of cozy, cute candle holders.  Super simple, right?

I really want to try a tall glass with some lacy pantyhose.  Wouldn't that be pretty?
