Origami Leaves

I had a request for a tutorial on making origami leaves (like the ones I use in my jewelry), so here goes!

For this tutorial, I used a 2" square piece of paper.

Cut the paper in half, on the diagonal.  You will use one triangle for each leaf.

Flip the paper over, so that the patterned side is down.  Fold up the bottom edge a little and crease.

Flip it back over, and fold up the bottom edge again, the same amount you did on the reverse side.  You're pretty much going to make a paper fan out of the triangle.  Keep flipping and folding until you've folded up to the top.

This is the view from the top.  Now fold the paper in half.

 Looking leafy!

When the paper is folded in half, trim off the last triangle.  ( The highlighted one in the picture above.)

Slip a jump ring onto the paper, and place it in the middle.

Run a little glue along the inside fold of the paper, and press the sides together.  Let it dry, and then you can fan it out and shape it into a leaf-ier shape.

Ta-da!  It's a leaf!

These are so much fun to make, in all different shapes, sizes, colors...
