For the base of the shamrock, I used some oven bake polymer clay.  It's super cheap, and really easy to use.  This package of white cost less than $2 at Jo-Ann Fabrics.

To make the shape of the shamrock, I cut out a small heart and traced it four times in a circular pattern, each time placing the point in the center.  

To protect my work surface, I like to tape some parchment paper down and work with the clay on it.  

Start by rolling out a small piece of clay to about 1/2" thickness.  I used a rolling pin that I have retired from the kitchen.  Anything you use with the clay shouldn't be used with food again- just a reminder.

Lay your shamrock shape on top of the clay.  Or you can free hand it, if you're good at that.  I'm not.

Using a craft knife, carefully cut out the shape.  

A quicker method? A small shamrock cookie cutter!  That would be great!  But if you're like me and have none, the paper method works, too.

When it's cut out, poke a couple of holes in it for hanging.

Place it on a cookie sheet (on parchment paper) and bake according to the package directions.  

Let it cool, and then squeeze on a bunch of sparkly green glitter glue.  The more, the better!

Let the glue dry, add some jump rings,

and some chain, and you're done!
